Lake Geneva videographer, nerd, and author
Greetings, I’m Mark a videographer in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. I specialize in capturing candid moments and flying drones while having fun. If you want to see clips of my work check out my Instagram. Otherwise check out weddings, drone, or corporate work.
Being a videographer in Lake Geneva is amazing. I never want to leave this area. There is a plethora of amazing venues and vendors to choose from. ALSO this is the birthplace of Dungeons and Dragons (TSR), a tabletop nerd like me is living the good life. I’ve also made a custom tabletop game base off my books, more info can be found here.
The Dirt on Vendors
If you’ve made it this far down the page I’m impressed, most people don’t like to read. As a reward here is some juicy information about the wedding industry. Hair and make up is the bane of most vendors because 9 times out of 10 they are running late. Photographers and videographers are sort of enemies, because they are competing for your time to make the best possible product. That said there can only be one captain of the ship. In my experience the photographer should take the lead and give the videographer the necessary time needed to get their shots. The photographers that stand in front of my cameras are the worst.
DJs are the most varied bunch, some are incredibly bad and others are amazing professionals. Day of coordinators are very helpful, the bigger the party the more you want to have one.
The Dirt on Timelines
Here is the skinny about making a timeline. Schedule your hair and make up earlier, so they can be done and out of the way… unless you want hair and make up pics / video, then more power to you. The bride should NOT be the last person to have hair and make up done! There is less of a hold up if the bride is ready to go.
First looks are great because you often have optimal light and don’t have to hide in a corner until the ceremony. The hidden bride time is almost never enough, older people ALWAYS get there early! Sunset / golden hour photos should NOT be scheduled at sunset, that is too late. Plan to do it 20-30 minutes before hand. Have all the key stuff wrapped up by 8PM because your grandparents want to go home and watch Murder She Wrote. Unless there is a specific reason 30-60 minutes of dance footage is all you need.
